Lerner and Garfield® Announce New Children’s Book Partnership

April 3, 2019

MINNEAPOLIS, MN—This fall, explore the art of comics and STEM breakthroughs with new books from Lerner Publishing Group and Garfield®. The program will launch with five titles in Fall 2019 and five new titles in Spring 2020, with additional books for future seasons being planned as well.

In Garfield’s Fat Cat Guide to STEM Breakthroughs, a new four book series launching in Fall 2019 Garfield introduces readers to the most noteworthy STEM discoveries, breakthroughs, and inventions with his trademark laugh-out-loud commentary. From the beginning of numbers to computer chips, Garfield explores it all…with only a few snack breaks along the way. Plus, Garfield’s Guide to Creating Your Own Comic Strip introduces young artists to all the parts that make up a comic—from the characters and the storyline to the setting and lettering.

“Garfield has been a pop-culture icon for decades,” said Adam Lerner, Publisher and CEO of Lerner Publishing Group. “Combining Lerner’s 60 years of children’s publishing expertise with Garfield’s entertaining approach makes for a great partnership to introduce young readers to STEM concepts and comic creations.”

“We’re thrilled to be working with Lerner on these informative and entertaining books,” said Garfield’s creator Jim Davis. “I’m a big believer that, if you make stuff fun, the knowledge you gain along the way will stick.”

The new Garfield books from Lerner Publishing Group will be available starting August 1, 2019.
