Lerner and Sesame Workshop Announce New Children’s Book Collaboration
February 27, 2019
MINNEAPOLIS, MN—This fall, grow stronger, smarter, and kinder with new books from Lerner Publishing Group and Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit organization behind Sesame Street. The program will launch with seven titles in Fall 2019 and eight new titles in Spring 2020, with additional books for future seasons being planned as well.
In Welcoming Worlds, a new six-book series launching in Fall 2019, beloved Sesame Street characters will help readers connect to new friends who speak different languages including Spanish, Mandarin, Hebrew, Arabic, and more. In Cookie Monster’s Foodie Truck, a standalone title for readers ages 6-8, Cookie Monster will introduce food literacy, the basics of healthy eating, table manners, and recipes to young food lovers.
“Combining Lerner’s 60 years of children’s publishing expertise with Sesame Workshop’s 50 years creating research-based educational media makes for an incredible partnership,” said Adam Lerner, Publisher and CEO of Lerner Publishing Group. “After successfully launching Shalom Sesame as a collaboration between Sesame Workshop and Kar-Ben Publishing, Lerner’s imprint featuring Jewish books for children and families, we are excited to expand our line of engaging and educational books featuring Big Bird, Cookie Monster, and Elmo to a larger audience.”
“For 50 years, families have trusted Sesame Street to help build preschoolers’ academic and social-emotional school readiness skills,” said Jennifer A. Perry, Sesame Workshop’s Vice President & Publisher, North America Media Products. “Lerner’s emphasis on a wide range of early learning themes including math, language, diversity, and healthy habits strongly supports our commitment to the ‘whole child.’”
The new Sesame Street books from Lerner Publishing Group will be available starting August 1, 2019.
