Business Central Developer
Summary: The Business Central (BC) Developer is responsible for the analysis, development, implementation, and support of a variety of system and data integrations primarily focused on Business Central. As an integral member of the IT team, this position is a key role in supporting business and internal IT goals and objectives. The position requires the use of design and technical skills while working closely with the Project Management Organization (PMO), end-users, senior management, related development teams, vendors, and other stakeholders to determine user requirements and solutions.
This position is based out of our downtown Minneapolis headquarters. This is a hybrid position, with the person being in the office one day a week minimum.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and support Business Central (BC) applications
- Support and modify BC integrations with third-party and proprietary systems
- Serve as an expert on the company’s BC environment and provide technical support
- Administer BC users and BC role security
- Modify and develop BC and SSRS reports
- Keep end-users, team members, and management informed on the status of open issues and assigned projects and tasks
- Work independently and with other team members on projects and support activities based on end-user needs, setting day-to-day priorities based on overall goals and direction given by the PMO
- Develop applications, reports, and other programming that conform to the company’s code standards
- Produce technical design documents, software requirement specifications, and use case scenarios that are consistent with the architectural constraints and software development standards
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure overall quality of product from a solution design and architectural standpoint
- Work closely with end-users in the identification and documentation of business requirements and potential solutions to help the user meet requirements; analyze such requirements and prepare specifications
- Perform system testing and quality assurance for BC updates, focusing on integrity of customizations and integrations
- Troubleshoot BC user issues, investigate performance-related issues, and debug error messages
- Keep current on industry trends and technology advancements, maintaining expertise in BC and related applications
- Participate in meetings to develop workflows, processes, and tools
- Make recommendations and assist end-users, team members, and management in developing and implementing process changes
- Participate in projects from design and planning through implementation and support
- Perform other related business duties assigned by immediate supervisor and/or other management as required
Experience and Necessary Skills:
- Proficient knowledge of Dynamics platform data and data models
- Deep understanding in areas of application programming, database, and system design
- Proven experience as a .NET Developer
- Familiarity with the ASP.NET framework, SQL Server and design/architectural patterns (e.g. Model-View-Controller)
- Knowledge of at least one of the .NET languages (e.g. C#, Visual Basic .NET) and HTML5/CSS3
- Familiarity with architecture styles/APIs (REST, RPC)
- Knowledge of relational database design and development
- Experience developing APIs, pages, and reports for Dynamics 365 Business Central environment
- Experience creating tables, views, functions, and stored procedures in Microsoft SQL Server
- Familiarity with Power platform, specifically PowerBI report development
Experience with the Following a Plus:
- Visual Studio, Team Foundation Server, Git and Docker
- SharePoint Online
- Nintex
- SQL Server Reporting, Integration, and Analysis Services (SSRS, SSIS, SSAS)
Education: BS/BA degree in computer science or related field with coursework in at least two of the following: digital media, web design, computer programming, or equivalent coupled with relevant and progressive professional experience
