Annette M. Clayton

With a father from Puerto Rico and an Irish mother, Annette M. Clayton grew up in a lively and diverse household. She has a master’s degree in writing for children and young adults and has published over twenty-five books with more on the way. Annette lives in Maryland with her family.

What was your favorite book when you were a child?
There’s so many to choose from! I was a huge fan of The Magic School Bus, Wayside School is Falling Down, and the Ramona books.
What’s your favorite line from a book?

Who are your top three favorite authors or illustrators?
Authors I adore are Beth Ferry, Shannon Hale, and Melissa Stewart.
Do you have any advice for future authors or illustrators?
Read as many books as you can! Keep a notebook and jot down ideas as they come to you.
