Interview

What was your favorite book when you were a child?

I was (and still AM) a huge fan of the Hardy Boys. (I guess that’s more like my favorite 150 books, huh?)

What’s your favorite line from a book?

“The Man in Black fled across the desert and the Gunslinger followed.” – Opening line from Stephen King’s The Dark Tower: The Gunslinger

Who are your top three favorite authors or illustrators?

Stephen King
Ray Bradbury
Michael Chabon

Why did you want to become an author or illustrator?

I’m fascinated with telling stories and evoking emotion. As a child, books were such a fundamental aspect of my growth and understanding of the world. They sparked my imagination and my sense of adventure. I strive to create stories that do the same for young readers now.

Do you have any advice for future authors or illustrators?

My main advice would be, “In order to be a great writer, you need to be a great reader.” Devour books/comics/magazines/stories/fiction/non-fiction/restaurant menus/road signs/etc. Read it all.
