Interview
What was your favorite book when you were a child?
I loved the fairy tales of Hans Christian Andersen.
Who are your top three favorite authors or illustrators?
Too many to choose from but one favorite who both writes and illustrates is Chris Van Allsburg.
Why did you want to become an author or illustrator?
I started writing poetry in elementary school and was published in Junior Scholastic Magazine. It all evolved from there. I am happiest when writing and cannot imagine not doing this.
Do you have any advice for future authors or illustrators?
I do not believe you need to write only about what you know. As long as you are willing to do the research you should write about what excites you, what you feel passionate about. That interest will show through your work. And persevere.
