Ursula Roma is an illustrator, fine artist and sculptor with a B.F.A. in design and an M.F.A. in Illustration. Ursula works in various media including pen and ink, acrylic, watercolor and digital illustration. She lives with her dog Maggie and three cats, who all help her finish illustrations when she gets too tired to paint. She lives in Cincinnati.

What was your favorite book when you were a child?

Dr. Seuss, Shel Silverstein, James Whitcomb Riley
Why did you want to become an author or illustrator?
I loved to draw and my mother encouraged me to pursue whatever my heart desired—so I wanted to be an artist. I went to art school, became an illustrator, and then I started doing some writing too!
Do you have any advice for future authors or illustrators?
Be persistent. Discover the message you have to give the world and find a way to express it, through images and words.
