Interview

What was your favorite book when you were a child?

My favorite book as a child was Cinderella.

What’s your favorite line from a book?

When I was growing up I had several younger siblings and cousins. Rather than read stories to them, I often made up stories that all ended with my favorite line “…and they lived happily ever after”.

Who are your top three favorite authors or illustrators?

Eric Carle, Maurice Sendak, Louisa May Alcott.

Why did you want to become an author or illustrator?

I teach and I thought that the original stories I told in my classroom could be enjoyed by children and used by other teachers.

Do you have any advice for future authors or illustrators?

Don’t get discouraged. Be patient, optimistic and persistent.
