Ruth Berman

Ruth (Berman) Strother is a veteran author and editor who has developed countless books for children in the areas of natural science, pet care, and biography, among others. Spanning the continent, Ruth was born in New York, grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and is now trying to warm up in Southern California, where she lives with her husband, daughter, and two Labs.

What was your favorite book when you were a child?: I loved Harriet the Spy, the Anne of Green Gables series, and the All Creatures Great and Small series by James Herriot. I spent a lot of time poring over any dog breed books I could find.
Who are your top three favorite authors or illustrators?: I love Berkeley Breathed (Edwurd Fudwupper Fibbed Big), J. K. Rowling (of course), and Chris Van Allsburg
Why did you want to become an author or illustrator?: I wanted to share my love and respect for animals and nature.
