“A favor, a lie, and then the consequence, this is what happens to Bo as he makes a bad decision. Bo’s Pop-Pop gives him the responsibility of mailing an important envelope on his way to play with his friends at the park. Bo proves to be irresponsible in several ways. As a result, he is held accountable by his grandfather and learns that lying is never the right choice. This text is part of the “Bo at the Buzz” series of chapter books, each of which reflects the diversity of our world through the experiences of an African American boy named Bo and his grandfather who owns a barbershop. The text features bright, detailed images that highlights how varied African American hair and skin tones can be. Each of the series titles start with a letter from the editor, as well as a basic introduction to Bo, which ensures each reader has the necessary background knowledge even if they are new to the series. This book is recommended for elementary libraries. Reviewer Rating: 4" –Children’s Literature
