“This is a short book about how women have served as trailblazers in making music and changing the music industry to be more inclusive. This book covers notable greats such as Ella Fitzgerald, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Beyonce, Marion Anderson, Dolly Parton, Evelyn Glennie and Sarah Chang, among others. There are short one page descriptions of each woman’s accomplishments, along with a short glossary of terms in the back of the book to help young readers define specific terms. A great introduction to the subject of women in music, and good for displaying during Women’s History Month celebrations in the month of March. Can be used to inspire book reports by young students on specific celebrities of their choosing. Also great for jump starting discussions of famous women in music, during music class.
