“Six attributes of caring for a dog are highlighted in this Lerner Pull Ahead Readers, I Care series book. These caring qualities include petting the dog, walking the dog, feeding the dog, washing the dog, brushing the dog, and loving the dog. Each double-page spread features a high quality photograph of a child and a dog engaged in the action named. The children represent a variety of ethnicities and the dogs are of different colors and breeds. The last page asks the reader to find three items in the pictures (a bowl, a dog, and a leash). This book includes a table of contents and an index, although these seem superfluous in a book of sixteen pages with only six sentences of content. The amount of information presented in the book is too brief to stand on its own as a manual for dog care. The book could possibly be used by an adult as a discussion starter on the subject.
