Lynn Brunelle

Lynn Brunelle is a four-time Emmy Award-winning writer for the television series Bill Nye the Science Guy, with over 25 years of writing experience. A former science, English, and art teacher for kids K-12, as well an editor, illustrator, and award-winning, best-selling author of over 40 titles, Lynn has created, developed, and written projects for PBS, NPR, A&E, The Discovery Channel, National Geographic, Disney and ABC-TV. She is based in Washington.

What was your favorite book when you were a child?

I loved All Creatures Great and Small by James Herriot. Also, this book about people who had interesting collections from nature called The Magnificent Foragers. Mostly I loved every National Geographic magazine that had anything to do with animals.

What’s your favorite line from a book?

A quote from an E.E. Cummings poem: “when faces called flowers float out of the ground”

Authors: E.B. White, Judy Blume, Grace Lin
Illustrators: Eric Carle, Jason Chin, Jennifer Mann

Why did you want to become an author or illustrator?

I was always so curious and dazzled by things I learned about the world and wanted to share that stuff with everyone.

Do you have any advice for future authors or illustrators?

Just remember that no one else has your ideas and your voice is important. Your story is important.
