Interview

What was your favorite book when you were a child?

The Berenstain Bears Books by Stan and Jan Berenstain and Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech

What’s your favorite line from a book?

“Tacky is an odd bird, but a nice bird to have around!” –Tacky the Penguin by Helen Lester

Who are your top three favorite authors or illustrators?

Eric Carle, Arnold Lobel, and Mo Willems

Why did you want to become an author or illustrator?

Since I was little, I only wanted to be a teacher. I loved “practicing” read alouds to my pretend students. Then later in life, as a “real” teacher and now a mom, I thought it would be so meaningful to write stories inspired by my students and my own children. I enjoy writing stories that spark conversation, giggles, and learning/growing at the heart level.

Do you have any advice for future authors or illustrators?

You can do it! I believe the “secret sauce” for all authors is patience and persistence.
