What was your favorite book when you were a child?

Anne of Green Gables by L. M. Montgomery

What’s your favorite line from a book?

“The world calls them its singers and poets and artists and storytellers; but they are just people who have never forgotten the way to fairyland.”—Anne of Green Gables, L. M. Montgomery

Who are your top three favorite authors or illustrators?

Lucy Maud Montgomery, Laura Ingalls Wilder, Diana Gabaldon

Why did you want to become an author or illustrator?

I’ve always loved words. Catching them and harnessing their magic has always been my calling. I’m so glad that I get to use those oodles of words to touch the hearts of others.

Do you have any advice for future authors or illustrators?

Enjoy the process. Speak your ideas aloud. Let characters be true to themselves. And last — study the classics — then make up your own rules.
