What’s your favorite line from a book?

“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You’re on your own. And you know what you know. And you’re the one who’ll decide wear to go.” ― Dr. Seuss, Oh, the Places You’ll Go!

Who are your top three favorite authors or illustrators?

I love words—how they rhyme, sound. I love poetry and word play. I’ve been a lover of language since I was a kid.

Do you have any advice for future authors or illustrators?

Write about what you love. Write about what you know—or research what you want to learn. Remember the three Ps: Patience, Persistence, Perseverance.
