Why did you want to become an author or illustrator?

When I was growing up, I heard so many stories in my home and with my family. I want readers to have the same experience of how stories can change our lives, validate our feelings and experiences and give us hope.

Do you have any advice for future authors or illustrators?

Pay attention. All around us are stories, characters, clues for dialogue…inspiration.
