Interview
What was your favorite book when you were a child?
It’s a tossup between “The Little House” by Virginia Lee Burton, and “Go, Dog, Go” by P.D. Eastman.
What’s your favorite line from a book?
“Would you like an adventure now, or shall we have our tea first?” from Peter Pan, by J.M. Barrie
Who are your top three favorite authors or illustrators?
Kveta Pacovska and Eric Carle for their use of color, and Ed Emberley for his black and white line work in “Klippity Klop”
Why did you want to become an author or illustrator?
I truly enjoy the creative process and love seeing a character and their story spring to life. I wanted to use my creativity to transport children to a world they can get lost in and to help them understand the world around them.
Do you have any advice for future authors or illustrators?
Seek inspiration from the world around you. Keep a daily or travel journal and photograph the things you come across that intrigue you. I often see things when traveling or walking around my neighborhood that find their way into future projects.
