Interview
What was your favorite book when you were a child?
Charlotte’s Web by E. B. White had a big impact on me.
What’s your favorite line from a book?
“It is not often that someone comes along who is a true friend and a good writer.”― Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White
Who are your top three favorite authors or illustrators?
It is hard to name only three, but I believe Sue Fliess and Dusti Bowling are authors to watch, and of course, who can compare with J.K. Rowling.
Why did you want to become an author or illustrator?
I have always been passionate about reading and books. For a long time I wrote about other people’s books to promote reading. Eventually, however, I realized I had things to say about science and nature, which made me want to write my own.
Do you have any advice for future authors or illustrators?
It takes time — as well as trial and error — to discover your place as an author. Learn from the experiences of others, but find your own path.
