Interview
What was your favorite book when you were a child?
My favorite book was Someplace for Sparky by Bernadine Beatie. I actually still have my original copy.
What’s your favorite line from a book?
“. . . you only succeed if you’re willing to try!” from Peanut Butter & Jelly for Shabbos by Dina Rosenfeld
Why did you want to become an author or illustrator?
I’ve always enjoyed writing stories and poems. I find it relaxing and also a lot of fun to play around with words. I feel very privileged to be a children’s book author.
Do you have any advice for future authors or illustrators?
Keep writing and writing and writing some more! And read a lot of books. You can learn so much from a well-written book. Also, keep a writing notebook to jot down any interesting ideas that come to your mind that might be useful for a story. Lastly, there are many magazines that publish children’s stories and poems. Submit your work to them. If you get accepted and published, it will serve as motivation for you to continue to write. And, if you don’t get accepted, it will also serve as motivation to improve your writing until it will be accepted and published. But never give up!
