Interview
What was your favorite book when you were a child?
Go, Dog, Go! which is surprising since I’ve always been a cat person. For my teen years it was definitely The Hobbit.
What’s your favorite line from a book?
“Listen: Billy Pilgrim has come unstuck in time.”—Slaughterhouse Five by Kurt Vonnegut Jr.
Who are your top three favorite authors or illustrators?
John Steinbeck, Kurt Vonnegut Jr., Roald Dahl
Why did you want to become an author or illustrator?
To help young minds explore the wonders of science. As a pretty average student my entire life, I always thought science was just for the “smart” kids. Not true! Science is for everybody as long as you’re passionate and you never stop asking questions.
Do you have any advice for future authors or illustrators?
Never stop exploring. Do something you love, do something with purpose . . . then find the time to write about it and tell the world.
