Interview
What was your favorite book when you were a child?
I have too many favorites to name just one but I loved many of Leo Lionni’s books, particularly Frederik.
Why did you want to become an author or illustrator?
I’ve always had a vivid imagination, but being able to paint scenes with words—really just describing the images I saw in my head—is exciting and gratifying.
Do you have any advice for future authors or illustrators?
Draw or write what you are passionate about—it will show in the art or writing. Be willing to make many revisions. And read read read.
