I grew up surrounded by authors, artists, artisans, and musicians. A career in the creative arts was almost inevitable.
Do you have any advice for future authors or illustrators?
Finish what you started. Especially if it’s a piece of some length. All the professionals I know are finishers. Too many writers fail to fight through the mid-book doldrums. It doesn’t necessarily get easier the more books you’ve completed, but it does get less intimidating. Once you’ve finished a long piece, you never have to do it the first time again.
