Ezra Jack Keats, Jerry Pinkney, and Kadir Nelson
Why did you want to become an author or illustrator?
Because I love listening to and sharing stories, because I wanted to be like the authors and illustrators whose books I saw on Reading Rainbow, and because I wanted to contribute to representing all people of the world in a positive light.
Do you have any advice for future authors or illustrators?
Keep writing, drawing, experimenting, sharing your work with others, but don’t forget to HAVE FUN with it! That’s the most important part.
