Interview

What was your favorite book when you were a child?

Dogsbody, by Diana Wynne Jones. I could tell you what it’s about, but it sounds insane. Interplanetary canine fiction? Just read it.

Who are your top three favorite authors or illustrators?

Diana Wynne Jones, Shaun Tan, Leif Enger.

Why did you want to become an author or illustrator?

I like telling stories. More than that, I like toying with people’s emotions. I’m aware that doesn’t make me sound like a nice person, but I’m cool with that.

Do you have any advice for future authors or illustrators?

Work on your self-confidence. Writers need to have egos. Not like “I’m the best there is!”, but like “I have confidence that with work, I can become the best there is.” You have to believe that you have the ability to learn and succeed.
