Interview
What was your favorite book when you were a child?
Sports biographies on Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig.
Why did you want to become an author or illustrator?
I had all these ideas for stories inside me and simply needed a vehicle to get them out of my mind and onto paper. And I also wanted to encourage children to develop their talents by speaking with them at schools.
Do you have any advice for future authors or illustrators?
Understand that writing is rewriting. No one writes something perfect the very first time. Most importantly, don’t judge your ideas when you write—just write and go back and change things later.
