Ana María Rodríguez
Ana María Rodríguez is a scientist who became a writer. She was an academic researcher who also taught basic and advanced biology courses to graduate and undergraduate students for many years. In 1999, Ana María stepped down from the lab bench to be a full time writer of books and magazine articles for children and adults. She has over 80 magazine articles and 14 books published so far.

“Look for progress, not for perfection.” (Don’t remember the book, though.)
Who are your top three favorite authors or illustrators?
Authors Melissa Stewart, Sally Walker, and Sneed B. Collard
Why did you want to become an author or illustrator?
I wanted to become an author to show children and teens the wonders of nature and the excitement of scientific work.
Do you have any advice for future authors or illustrators?
Read, read, and read, and write, write, and write every day. Think of different ways to present nature and science that are entertaining and thought provoking.
