What was your favorite book when you were a child?
I loved the Goosebumps books by R.L. Stine.
Who are your top three favorite authors or illustrators?
Roberto Bolaño, Edgar Allen Poe, and Philip Roth are three writers I really admire. I love the illustrations of Winsor McCay, Maurice Sendak and Chris Ware.
Why did you want to become an author or illustrator?
I was a big reader as a kid. Writing a book of my own book sounded like the coolest possible thing!
Do you have any advice for future authors or illustrators?
Stop reading this and go write or draw right now! You’ll never be creative again the same way you are today.
