Interview
What was your favorite book when you were a child?
Eloise by Kay Thompson illustrated by Hilary Knight
What’s your favorite line from a book?
Isn’t it better to be in a warm bed saying, “Isn’t it better to be in a warm bed rather than out in the cold snow?” rather than out in the cold snow saying, “Isn’t it better to be in a warm bed rather than out in the cold snow?”
Who are your top three favorite authors or illustrators?
Garth Williams, Maurice Sendak, Margaret Wise Brown
Why did you want to become an author or illustrator?
I always loved reading and drawing. I loved becoming immersed in another world, and I wanted to be able to create worlds for other children too.
Do you have any advice for future authors or illustrators?
I would say to draw and write what you love – what interests you the most. Have patience with yourself – it doesn’t have to be perfect – just fun. And keep on doing it!
