Interview

What was your favorite book when you were a child?

Beowulf

What’s your favorite line from a book?

(Greatly paraphrased) “He who steals my purse steals trash. T’was mine, T’was his, T’was slave to thousands; but, he who filches from me my good name steals not which enriches him but makes me poor indeed.” —Othello

Who are your top three favorite authors or illustrators?

Shakespeare, Milton, Busema.

Why did you want to become an author or illustrator?

All I’ve ever wanted to do was tell stories.

Do you have any advice for future authors or illustrators?

Read, write, and draw everyday. Read, write, or draw when you are well, sick, if you feel great, even when you’re not in the mood; and, plan to read, write, and draw on your death bed.
