Interview

What was your favorite book when you were a child?

My favorite fairy tale is “Cinderella”, a close second is “The Princess who could not cry.”

What’s your favorite line from a book?

“…and they lived happily ever after.”

Who are your top three favorite authors or illustrators?

Chris Van Allsburg is my all time favorite, I have all of his books. Mary Grand Pre is amazing, my favorite book she illustrated is Chin Yu Min and The Ginger Cat and of course the Harry Potter books.

Why did you want to become an author or illustrator?

Since I was little I would look at the pictures first then read the story. I see the characters magically come alive and that is what I want to achieve when I illustrate. I get lost in time when I draw and paint, it is a wonderful feeling when you can feel the images come alive right on the paper.

Do you have any advice for future authors or illustrators?

Keep dreaming, dreaming becomes reality.
