Applications Developer

Summary: The Applications Developer is responsible for the analysis, development, implementation, and support of a variety of software applications primarily focused around the Microsoft Technology Stack. As an integral member of the IT team, this position is a key role in supporting business and internal IT goals and objectives. The position requires the use of design and technical skills while working closely with the Project Management Organization (PMO), end-users, senior management, related development teams, vendors, and other stakeholders to determine user requirements and solutions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Work closely with the PMO to produce accurate delivery estimates and manage the transition from analysis through design and delivery
  2. Keep end-users, team members, and management informed on the status of open issues and assigned projects and tasks
  3. Work independently and with other team members on projects and support activities based on end-user needs, setting day-to-day priorities based on overall goals and direction given by the PMOs
  4. Develop applications that conform to the company’s code standards
  5. Produce technical design documents, software requirement specifications, and use case scenarios that are consistent with the architectural constraints and software development standards
  6. Serve as an expert on applications architecture and provide technical support
  7. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure overall quality of product from a software design and architectural standpoint
  8. Work closely with end-users in the identification and documentation of business requirements and potential application solutions to help the user meet requirements; analyze such requirements and prepare specifications
  9. Troubleshoot and resolve systems issues
  10. Perform system testing and quality assurance for applications, enhancements, and upgrades to current systems
  11. Keep current on industry trends and technology advancements by maintaining expertise in supported applications
  12. Participate in meetings to develop workflows, processes, and tools
  13. Make recommendations and assist end-users, team members, and management in developing and implementing process changes
  14. Participate in projects from design and planning through implementation and support
  15. Perform other related business duties assigned by immediate supervisor and/or other management as required

Experience and Necessary Skills:

  1. Proven experience as a .NET Developer
  2. Familiarity with the ASP.NET framework, SQL Server and design/architectural patterns (e.g. Model-View-Controller)
  3. Knowledge of at least one of the .NET languages (e.g. C#, Visual Basic .NET) and HTML5/CSS3
  4. Familiarity with architecture styles/APIs (REST, RPC)
  5. Development using Visual Studio and Team Foundation Server
  6. Knowledge of relational database design and development
  7. Experience creating tables, views, functions, and stored procedures in Microsoft SQL Server
  8. Proven ability to learn and adapt to new technologies
  9. Strong problem solving and analytical skills with ability to oversee various projects under deadlines
  10. Must be self-directed with strong verbal and written communication skills
  11. Experience in book publishing preferred
  12. Minimum 2-3 years related experience

Tasks and Assignments:

  1. Development and support of workflow software and forms solutions
  2. Knowledge and support of LPG’s data entry and warehouse integrations and applications
  3. Knowledge and support of LPG’s product management system

Experience with the following a plus:

  1. SharePoint Online
  2. Nintex
  3. Power BI
  4. SQL Server Reporting, Integration, and Analysis Services (SSRS, SSIS, SSAS)

Education: BS/BA degree in computer science or related field with coursework in at least two of the following: digital media, web design, computer programming, or equivalent coupled with relevant and progressive professional experience
