Lerner Digital Launches Page Plus Feature This Fall

Eavesdropping on Elephants

By Kate Schefer, Digital Product Coordinator

Here in the Digital department, not only do we work hard to bring you digital formats of all your favorite Lerner books every season, but we’re also finding new ways to deliver that digital content across platforms. Our newest digital feature, Page Plus, launched this season. It includes 15 new titles to enjoy and explore. But what does Page Plus even mean?

Let’s take a look at how it works in one of our highly anticipated titles, Eavesdropping on Elephants.

Eavesdropping on Elephants is the newest title from Sibert-award-winning author Patricia Newman. It explores how scientists studied and learned about elephant communication. With so many audio components discussed, we wanted to make sure that readers knew exactly what Newman was talking about. Throughout the book, you’ll come across QR codes in sidebars, which will lead to videos where you can see and hear the elephants in action. Being able to interact with the text in this way greatly enhances engagement and understanding, and is especially helpful for visual and auditory learners!

How Does It Work?

Scan QR codes with your preferred device, and take a break from the book to see a video or listen to forest sounds. Then jump back in to get the full context of what you just watched. Our aim for Page Plus was to identify titles that were begging to continue off the page, and we gave them a place to go. So not only can you hear elephants talking, but in other series you can see farm machines at work and follow craft projects step-by-step. In Coding with Anna and Elsa, activities featuring the cast of Frozen and step-by-step instructions guide readers through exercises that teach sequencing, debugging, and more.

With new titles being added each season, and a variety of additional content, Page Plus books are sure to keep your students engaged both on and off the page.
