Classroom Marketing Manager

The Classroom Marketing Manager is responsible for creating, executing, measuring, and reporting on the impact of integrated marketing strategies for the K-12 classroom market, including working closely on product development with the Content Team.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop promotional calendar and execute annual multi-channel marketing campaigns, including catalogs, sales and marketing collateral, print and digital advertising, website and online marketing, email blasts, social media, promotions, trade shows, and other methods

  • Maintain classroom customer database and prospecting data

  • Coordinate market research and competitive profiling needs

  • Develop classroom programs, working with editorial, marketing, and sales teams to effectively use existing content and drive frontlist publishing programs

  • Collaborate with sales, manage sales team engagement (product training, selling incentives, advisory groups, customization, etc) and support sales team efforts

  • Coordinate customer success plans and collect product implementation artifacts such as classroom/student/educator use cases, photos and videos, user testimonials, school/district customer profiles, etc

  • Partner with operations to ensure high quality customer experience, starting with quotes and order entry, through fulfillment and customer feedback.

  • Keep abreast of relevant marketing trends and industry information via industry journals, websites, blogs, social media, symposiums, conferences, and trade shows. Develop a strong understanding of competitors’ products/offerings, positioning and marketing tactics.

  • Build understanding of customers’ needs, attitudes and buying behaviors through networking, focus groups, and research methods as necessary. Develop and maintain relationships with key educators, presenters, and other industry insiders. Work in partnership with Editorial Product Development team to share and compare information around trends.

  • Develop knowledge of education industry trends, national standards initiatives, federal and state funding considerations, and regional education concerns. Leverage that knowledge to assist with market positioning.

  • Analyze marketing programs, provide post-event reports, and regular status reports on sales and marketing programs to executive team.

  • Perform other related business duties assigned by immediate supervisor and/or other management as required.

  • Experience and Necessary Skills:

  • Five to seven years’ experience in education or classroom sales, marketing, and/or content creation is required

  • Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal)

  • Strong project management skills

  • Social media and digital marketing experience

  • Creative problem solver & self-starter

  • Must be detail-oriented and have a strong interest in children’s book publishing for the school and library market

  • Education: BA or equivalent required, preferably in Marketing or related subject.
