Introducing the New and Improved Lerner Digital Platform!

This August, we launched our new and improved Lerner Digital platform! With a refreshed modern design and enhanced functionality, the upgraded platform will make accessing your library of digital books a better experience. Keep reading to see what enhancements are available!

Access

All user access in the browser remains the same—no changes to your credentials, QR codes, authenticated URLs, or MARC records. If your readers prefer to use a mobile device, they can download the new Lerner Digital app from iOS or Google Play app store. The old Lerner Digital eReader app will stop working in August 2022.

Fresh New Look

The Lerner Digital platform now sports a modern look, with a cleaner design and higher color contrasts for a more accessible user interface. The new platform also uses four new icons with different colors to help identify digital book formats more easily. eBooks are green, eBooks with Audio are aqua, Audiobooks are yellow, and Interactive Books are red.

Better Performance

The new Lerner Digital platform is built on next generation technology for improved speed and responsiveness. Searching, filtering, and digital book loading times are reduced, so your students can focus on reading books. The site is also built with responsive design, so it will work and look right on smartphones, tablets, and computers alike.

Improved Filtering and Searching

We’ve added new categories to the Filter and Search features, including the digital book icons within the Formats option for quick recognizability. Filter options include: Series, Fiction/Nonfiction, Subject, Format, Language, Reading Level, Interest Level, Accelerated Reader, and Lexile.

Advanced Search can search books like before, and now also the content within the books. Options include keywords (with phrase match option), Author, Title, Copyright range, Series, Fiction/Nonfiction, Subject, Format, Language, Reading Level, Interest Level, Accelerated Reader, and Lexile.

Increased Series Visibility

In addition to searching and filtering by Series, when you are viewing a book’s details page, you now see a listing of other titles in the same series that your institution has purchased. This makes browsing within a series a breeze!

New Citation and Translation Features

When reading an eBook or eBook with Audio, you can click on the new citation icon to generate a page citation in APA, Chicago, MLA, or Vancouver styles.

When reading an eBook or eBook with Audio, you can now translate any live text into 50+ languages other than English! Translations work on individual words, as well as full pages of text.

Enhanced Admin Portal

Institution Admins now have access to both their admin tools and their institutions bookshelf at once. In the top toolbar, simply toggle between “Bookshelf” and “Admin” options.

Within the Admin tools, admins will be able to manage their Institution, Users, and Reports.

In the Institution tab, admin users can manage institution contact info; manage access settings such as IP based access, common user accounts, referrer URLs, and library card authentication; and view their list of purchased digital books, which can be exported as a spreadsheet.

In the Users tab, admin users can manage all admin and individual accounts, including adding new accounts and deactivating old accounts.

Expanded Usage Reporting

In the Reports tab, admin users can view expanded usage reporting for their institution. All data in reports is generalized, and does not track individual students or patrons. Reports are divided into four categories: Product Usage, Title View, Title Download, and Subscription & Expiry. Simply click on the report you wish to view, enter a date range, and results will load. Most reports can be exported as a spreadsheet.

Product Usage Report

View your institution’s usage by product. Totals are displayed at the top in a dashboard, and the report is displayed below. Columns include title, ISBN, number of online views, number of downloads, and number of searches.

Title View Reports

View your institution’s usage by title views. The Dashboard option displays the grand total views, a line graph of views by date, and total views for your selected reporting period. This is followed by snapshot reports of views by account type, by product, by search term, and by browser and operating system. Reports by product and search term have expanded options for further details.

Title Download Reports

View your institution’s usage by title downloads. The Dashboard option displays total views and a line graph of downloads by date, followed by snapshot reports of views by geography and by product. Reports by product and date have expanded options for further details.

Subscription & Expiry Report

This reports lists any titles that have a set expiration date. All digital books from Lerner default to buy it once, own it forever! So this report will only populate in very special cases where a time-limited purchase has been requested by your institution or district.

Compliance

The new Lerner Digital platform is compliant with both GDPR and COPPA.
