Lerner Publisher Services Announces New Distribution Agreement with American Psychological Association

MINNEAPOLIS, MN – Lerner Publisher Services, a division of Lerner Publishing Group, today announced a new partnership with the American Psychological Association (APA) to be their exclusive global distributor beginning January 1, 2025, for their Magination Press imprint. Lerner Publisher Services will grow sales for Magination Press by leveraging the market reach, expertise, and reputation for exceptional quality and customer service that has made Lerner Publishing Group a leader in independent children’s book publishing for 65 years.

Lerner Publisher Services will take over distribution for Magination Press’s full backlist and frontlist. Magination’s standout titles include books in the What-to-Do Guides for Kids series, which has sold over 2 million copies in eight languages and celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2025, as well as the Something Happened series, including the New York Times bestseller Something Happened in Our Town. Magination’s list also features one of the most banned characters of the last decade, Jacob, of the forthcoming Jacob’s Missing Book, along with Stonewall award-winner This Day in June; the Kid Confident: Middle Grade Shelf Help nonfiction series; and modern bibliotherapeutic picture books for children including Taco Falls Apart, You’ll Find Me, My Whirling Twirling Motor, and browsable psychological science books like Psychology for Kids, Big Brain Book, Sensational Animal Senses, and True or False?

David Wexler, Executive Vice President of Sales for Lerner Publishing Group, expressed his enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “We are thrilled to welcome the American Psychological Association to our distribution network. APA’s track record of market success aligns seamlessly with Lerner’s robust publishing program, and we are confident that this partnership will bring benefits to both organizations.”

“Partnering with APA presents a tremendous opportunity for Lerner to further our mission of offering literature that celebrates diversity and fosters inclusivity,” said Adam Lerner, President and CEO of Lerner Publishing Group. “We are excited to make Magination Press, APA’s esteemed children’s imprint, available through Lerner’s well-established market channels.”

“The important children and teen books that APA publishes will reach new audiences through the incredible reach of Lerner,” said Kristine Enderle, Editorial Director, Magination Press. “They will help get our content out to more parents, librarians, teachers, and other caregivers who will in turn help more young readers.”

Magination Press titles will be available for pre-sale through Lerner starting on November 15, 2024.
