Interview

What was your favorite book when you were a child?

Mathilda by Roald Dahl

What’s your favorite line from a book?

“Not all those who wonder are lost.”—J. R. R. Tolkien

Who are your top three favorite authors or illustrators?

Fiep Westendorp (illustrator), Alice & Martin Provensens (illustrator), Quentin Blake (illustrator) and so many more . . .

Why did you want to become an author or illustrator?

I’ve always been daydreaming a lot and seen images in my head, as a kid I would draw/play them out. Now there are still images, and I have to get them out. So naturally illustration is a medium I can use to show my view on life.

Do you have any advice for future authors or illustrators?

As cliche as it sounds and I have to remind myself as well, “Life is a journey not a destination”. It doesn’t matter when/how you get to do what you love. All the things that happen to you before getting there are just as important, don’t rush the process you’ll get there in your own time and in your own way. That is what will make you unique, your journey. Just enjoy what’s coming, observe life, the people around you, get to know yourself, and you’ll learn so much.
